I call it natural multivitamin because it is rich. It has a unique combination of amino acids, minerals, collagen and cartilage compounds.  When you add veggies to it, the benefit is out of this world.

If you have baby above 6 months, she should be enjoying this by now.  My daughter started @7months. I use syringe to give to her because it my own multi-vitamins. I don’t do wellkid, abidec & the rest.

You know, this one food that is hidden from the rich and the educated. Because, “biscuit bone” is mostly used by the poor.

The first time I gave this a second thought was one Saturday at butcher shop, I saw a poor woman with a baby packing it. And when i asked her, she said na wetin she dey give her baby make she no fall sick and make she get strong bone.

I wonder how many of us looked to the side where brisket bone (aka biscuits bone) is kept in butcher shops.  I wonder how many of us have bought it even after our first discussion on it. Because, if it’s only one person that has the note, it means nobody has tried it.

We love to spend money on expensive fancy foods with low value but neglect the cheap rich foods.

We prefer to stuff our kids with drugs and supplements instead of the çheap nutrient dense foods. I always laugh each time someone post multivitamin here and I have stopped commenting .

Here are the lists of nutritional benefits from Broth

This is one drink that benefits every part of your body from the gut, to the brain, to muscle & ligament.  It contains so many amino acid and minerals in a form that our body absorbs easily and that why it is cooked for a long time, long enough to release all the nutrients in absorbable form.  It is so so perfect for babies with developing digestive system & people with compromised gut system.

See below

  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Zinc
  • Collagen/Gelatin
  • Glutathione
  • Glycerine
  • Glutamine
  • Chondroitin Sulfate
  • Proline
  • Glucosamine
  • Potassium
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Vitamin A, K, C etc

The list continues. It’s indeed nature’s multivitamin.

If you are on supplement or on a joint pain/arthritis medication, check the label to see if any of these compounds are on it.  It contains so many amino acid and minerals in a form that our body absorbs easily.  It protects the joints and bone and great for all forms of arthritis. If you have osteoporosis or frequent join pain, you need bone broth.

As we get older, our cartilage starts to degrade.  Bone broth contains substances that help to restore cartilage and cushion the friction between bones.   And for kids, great for brain development,  strong bone & teeth. The calcium & phosphorus content is great.  It boosts immune system & fight inflammation.  Babies from 6months need this. If you are a nursing mum, please prepare bone broth. Give older kids too.  If they reject it, try using it to boil their rice, pasta etc. They need it oh!  It also boosts appetite becauseiIt is rich in zinc. Stop wasting money on multivitamin. Give bone broth. It is richer.  It fights food intolerances and allergies.  The collagen in bone broth helps to restore the lining of gut (digestive track) and fight food sensitivities.  If you are having digestive issues, try bone broth.  It reduces cellulite. It makes our skin supple and decreases cellulite. The power of collagen delays aging and wrinkles. Most of your anti-aging cream contains collage.

It is also great way to obtain GLUTATHIONE

And finally, it is amazing drink for cold & flu. It reduces inflammation in respiratory track. This may be the reason people take chicken soup when they have flu.  So add it to the list of what you take when there cold/flu/catarrh in your home.

If you can, mix bones from meat, chicken and fish. It is richer than using one type of bone.

All the bones you throw away after eating, don’t throw them away again. Pack them, clean them and store in the freezer to be used for next bone broth. The quality of the broth is richer with varieties of bone.

  • water
  • Onions
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Some add apple cider vinegar to release the nutrients fast( it’s optional)
  • Spice like ginger, garlic etc as you so desire
  • Wash the bone and roast the bone. Roasting improves the flavour of the final outcome.
  • Put the bones in a pot and add enough water. Add onions, carrot & spices and bring to boil.
  • once, it boils, reduce the flame and simmer for 24- 48hrs ( don’t shout)
  • You can also use pressure cooker to reduce cooking time. But I prefer to do stove top.
  • If you are using pressure cooker, use stainless steel pressure cooker & aluminium pressure cooker.
  • I usually make it once in a month or 2months and I use Saturday & Sunday to cook. I cook for 12hours and stop and continue the next day.

I don’t add all the veggies at once.

I add some at the beginning and the rest 5 minutes to the end of the cooking. Most heat sensitive nutrients from veggies get destroyed after 15mins.

After cooking, strain and pour in small containers and allow cooling before storing in refrigerator.
